Lyrically, what direction did you guys go with on Misadventures? And who is the main lyricist of the band? And who gets the most girls in the band? Or are you all dweebs, like me? lol
I wrote about 7 of the songs’ lyrics, Ben wrote about 3, and we wrote “Higher Places” together. We both have input on each others lyrics where we find it necessary, as well. We tend to switch our normal stage roles when writing; Ben writes a lot more of the guitar and I write a lot more of the lyrics/vocal melodies.
Most of the lyrics are on the record are pretty personal, despite some of them seeming outward. We didn’t necessarily decide on a direction beforehand, but once I saw how our stuff was coming out I tried to more or less maintain that voice on the rest of the stuff I was writing. Hopefully, at the very least, they reflect the direction that we’re moving in as writers.
